Beautiful Train Ltd. comprises Director: Gavin Toomey & Editor: Natasha Wilkinson and was created to facilitate making our own films while working in a freelance capacity for other production companies.
Gavin Toomey – Director
In 2009 Gavin’s short drama “Drop” was official selection of a number of festivals including the highly respected Rushes Soho Shorts Festival, screening at London’s ICA Cinema, Branchage and the Cannes Short Film Corner in France. In 2008 “Trace” premiered from 35mm at the UK’s top Shorts festival Encounters, in “Best of British” Category.
Prior to focusing on Directing in Feb 2007, Gavin came from a background in feature film & commercial Visual Effects design on many well known productions IMDb Credits. In 2000 he received a D&AD Yellow Pencil for VFX work on Jonathan Glazer’s Guinness “Surfer” Ad.
Gavin graduated from University of Westminster’s (then PCL) Film and Photographic Arts degree in 1995 having enjoyed getting “hands on” with 16mm film. The attraction of new Digital Film Technology lured him to work with Framestore/CFC for 12 years as a VFX designer progressing into Shoot Supervision in the 00’s on films such as Warners’ “Harry Potter 5″
With that practical experience came a growing desire to engage again with film-making on a more personal, emotional level, leading him to go freelance and refocus on Directing film projects.
Writing Music is also a passion and in 2009 he scored a feature length doc. and 4 x 3 Minute Wonders having released albums as “Vessel”. His track “Tiny” appeared on a Pet Shop Boys Compiled “Back to Mine” comp. His debut lp being a Neil Tennant favourite of 2003
Natasha Wilkinson – Editor
As well as “Drop” & “Trace”, Natasha has recently Edited a number of Channel 4 Documentaries including the high profile 30 minute, “Bus Pass Bullfighter” (dir. Molly Clarke), a number of features for “The Culture Show” (BBC), and 8 x 3 Minute Wonders (Channel 4). In 2007, Natasha was Additional Editor on Molly Dineen’s BAFTA winning 75 minute Documentary, “Lie of the Land”.
Before making the leap into the film world, Natasha gained a degree in Architecture, but then followed her true passion for editing by assisting in the cutting rooms of high profile Film and TV drama such as David Yates’ “State of Play”. IMDb Credits
